BSc (Hons) Zoology Top-up Level 6

Dante Edwards

Dante moved from Canada to the UK to study the BSc (Hons) Zoology (Top-up Level 6) course.

"Choosing to study at Hartpury University was a leap of faith, but one that has proven to be completely worthwhile. After finishing my studies in Canada, I had several options available to me, but Hartpury stood out because it was different. Studying in another country while continuing my passion for Zoology was an opportunity I wanted to take.

"The Zoology Top-up Level 6 course offered a much quicker and more focused pathway compared to similar options elsewhere. Completing the degree in one year made sense both financially and academically, while keeping the subject broad enough to help me decide on a future specialism.

"Moving to a new country was daunting, but the support from the international team was exceptional. They were always available, incredibly informative, and quick to find answers when I had questions - even helping me explain key details to my parents.

"The lecturers are passionate, approachable and invested in our success of as students. The facilities have also been a highlight, especially the new University Learning Hub, which offers us modern study spaces and private rooms that make it easier to focus and feel comfortable on campus.

"Academically, the UK grading system is more challenging than what I was used to, but I see that as a positive. It pushes you to be at your best and help you with your future career.

"Looking ahead, I plan to specialise in Marine Zoology through internships focused on marine conservation, while also exploring opportunities in environmental protection and wildland management. Beyond academics, I’ve built friendships with people from all over the world, making my experience even more rewarding."
