Success Stories

MRes Anthrozoology

Amanda Gates

Amanda studied MRes Anthrozoology at Hartpury and is now the Director of the Animal Welfare Agency.

Amanda's Hartpury Experience

"I took my postgraduate degree as a mature student, which shows it’s never too late to start a new adventure and I feel privileged to be able to devote myself to making a difference to the lives of animals.

Hartpury has opened new doors and enabled me to share my passion with like-minded and interesting people, from lecturers who have supported and encouraged me, to professionals who have inspired me."

Developing Industry Connections

"Gaining animal investigation experience made me realize a greater need for clarity of welfare standards in animal care organisations. This led me, along with another Hartpury graduate and a team of like-minded people to establish a community interest company, the Animal Welfare Agency.

We have a clear mission to improve animal welfare standards, by providing a more effective monitoring system across the UK."
