Hello, I am Rosie Finney and I am a student at Hartpury University, in my final year studying BSc (Hons) Agriculture (Livestock Production). I have grown up in the agricultural industry, living in a village in rural Lincolnshire. My dad manages a turkey hatchery back in Lincolnshire, which has led me into the poultry industry. I am also the chairman of my local Young Farmers club, with roles at county, area and national level too.
I first heard about Hartpury when I attended a UCAS event at home and having decided that I wanted to study agriculture at university, I thought it was worth having a look around Hartpury. It was the first university I went to look around and it instantly felt like the right place for me. The rural campus felt like a home away from home, almost feeling like a small village in the countryside.
The course stood out to me for several reasons. Being a fairly small university, with small class sizes, I felt that I would be able to get more support from lecturers and staff than in larger universities. I also liked the amount of practical work that Hartpury offered, especially on Hartpury Home Farm. Finally, the connections with the industry stood out to me, with the Agri-Tech Centre allowing students to meet and hear from individuals in the wider agricultural industry.
