International Undergraduate Application Guide

International Student Colour Shoot 10

If you're applying to Hartpury as an international undergraduate student, you can apply for your course through UCAS, or directly via our online application form.

International students can apply for their chosen course from October for entry the following September. Applications are accepted throughout the year, but we recommend applying as early as possible, as courses may close as they become full.

Apply through UCAS

If you’re applying to more than one UK university, you’ll need to apply through UCAS (the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service). UCAS is the UK’s central application service for undergraduate university courses. The platform enables you to apply to multiple courses and universities through one online application and a single, small fee.

Apply direct to Hartpury

If you’re applying only to Hartpury University, you can apply directly using our online application form. You’ll need to create an account and log in to start your application. There is no application fee when applying direct.

Joining us from another university

We accept students into any year of our degrees. If you’ve already started your degree at another university, we can consider your previous learning for credit transfer, meaning you may be able to join Hartpury in the second or third year and still graduate with a full degree. Our dedicated wellbeing staff will support you as you settle in, and your academic tutor will help you adjust to your new course.

Once you've decided you want to make an application for a Hartpury University course, you simply need to follow the next steps.

International Student Colour Shoot 1

If you’re applying through UCAS, our institution code is H22. You can select up to five choices on your application, and you won’t need to choose your Firm option at this stage.

If you’re applying directly to us through our online application form, you’ll be asked to register for an account and log in before completing the form.

Uploading Documents

Please note that you cannot upload documents within either the UCAS or direct application forms. After submitting your application, please email any supporting documents to our International Admissions team separately.

As part of your application, we’ll ask you to submit a personal statement. This is your opportunity to tell us about yourself and explain why you want to study your chosen subject. It’s your space to show your enthusiasm for the course, highlight relevant experiences and skills, and reflect on what has prepared you for university-level study.

What to include (maximum 4,000 characters)

  1. Why you want to study this course or subject at Hartpury

  2. How your previous studies and qualifications have prepared you

  3. Your wider skills and achievements - including any experience outside of education and why it’s relevant

  4. Your future goals - what you hope to do with this qualification and your career aspirations

As part of your application, we’ll ask you to provide a reference. This is a written statement from someone who knows you in an academic or professional capacity - such as a teacher, college counsellor, employer, or coach and can comment on your suitability for higher education.

Choosing a Referee

Your referee should be someone who knows you well and can comment on your academic ability or professional skills, as well as speak positively and accurately about your character, work ethic, and achievements. References cannot be written by family or friends.

What the Reference Should Include

  • How the referee knows you

  • Your strengths, skills, and achievements

  • Your academic or professional performance

  • Why you’re a strong candidate for the course

We’ll email you to confirm that we’ve received your application. Our Admissions team may contact you to request additional information. You can expect to hear back from us within 10 days of submitting your application.

If we make you an offer, you’ll get your offer letter and information pack.

After reviewing your application, you may receive:

  • a Conditional Offer - this means you’ve been offered a place provided you meet certain requirements (e.g., exam results, transcripts and certificates, proof of English Language proficiency, or other criteria).

  • an Unconditional Offer - this means your place is confirmed, subject to meeting visa requirements if you need a visa.

If we don’t feel we can make you an offer

We might be able to offer you an alternative. We'll get in touch to discuss options.

If you’ve received an offer, we’ll invite you to attend an Offer Holder Day. This is a great opportunity to take part in interactive subject sessions and get a feel for student life at Hartpury.

Can’t make the Offer Holder Day?
You can still visit us at another time by booking an individual campus tour on a date that suits you.

Can’t visit in person?
Don’t worry! You can meet us virtually. Get in touch with our International team to book a 1:1 call. Your dedicated contact and meeting booking link will be listed on your country page below.
