Lantra Awards

Hartpury University and College students nominated for Land-Based Learner of the Year Awards

Hartpury University and Hartpury College are thrilled to announce that three of their outstanding students have been shortlisted for a prestigious Land-based & Environment Learner Award.

Organised by Landex and their event partner Lantra, the awards ceremony will take place on Thursday 21 November at the National Conference Centre in Birmingham. The event, established in 2023, will once again recognise the outstanding talent, successes, and achievements of learners from across England and Northern Ireland in the land-based and environment sector.

Hartpury students making the shortlist include:

  • Alisha Craigie (Level 3 Extended Diploma Equine Management). Alisha has demonstrated exemplary skills in both practical and theoretical aspects of equine care and management, earning her recognition for her passion and commitment to the equine industry.
  • Katie Hall, a recent graduate from the BSc (Hons) Zoology programme. Katie’s commitment to conservation have set her apart as a future leader in her field.
  • Faith Ivey, studying BSc (Hons) Animal Behaviour and Welfare. Faith has been nominated for her professionalism and engagement with industry.

The inaugural awards ceremony was hosted by Countryfile presenter Adam Henson and attended by more than 200 guests. This year, celebrity garden designer, Danny Clarke (aka The Black Gardener) will be hosting the event.

Danny, who trained as a garden designer at Hadlow College, said: “I am thrilled to be hosting this year’s ceremony to recognise the talent and dedication of people in education who are taking care of and creating green spaces and looking after animals.”

“Although I didn’t change career until I was middle-aged, my love of the outdoors started early on in my life. I can’t wait to hear the stories behind the nominations, some of whom I expect will be career changers, like me, or young people embarking on their career. Either way, it looks set to be a memorable date in the calendar!”

Claire Whitworth, Deputy Principal of Hartpury College said: “We’re incredibly proud of these students and their achievements. Successfully being shortlisted for an award is testament to their hard work and dedication, as well as to the world-class education they have received from those individuals who proudly nominated them. We wish them all the best and look forward to seeing their continued success in their careers.”
