A project carried out by MSc Sports Business Management graduate Travis Fisher via the Hartpury Sports Business Hub is helping to boost sport and physical activity in school children. The collaboration with Active Gloucestershire and the Move More initiative sets out to evaluate and measure the impact of their groundbreaking Creating Active Schools (CAS) Framework.
Developed by sector experts to change perceptions and behaviours around physical activity in schools, the CAS Framework is a research-based profiling, planning, and training resource designed to ensure that all children are regularly active.
Throughout the MSc Sports Business Management consultancy project, Travis engaged with numerous schools in the Gloucester region to measure impact. He collected data to reveal how, and to what extent, physical activity was integrated into school systems.
To support Active Gloucestershire’s future work embedding physical activity in the heart of schools, Travis provided invaluable insights to key stakeholders via an extensive end-of-project report and presentation.

The Hartpury Sports Business Hub provides students and staff the opportunity to engage with key local and regional sports organisations to complete live briefs and real-world research consultancy.
The Hub currently provides access to a range of organisations including Active Gloucester, Sport Wales, Bream RFC and Gloucestershire County Cricket Club as well as multinational corporations and independent businesses.
Projects like these have helped to contribute to Hartpury’s high graduate employability rates with 97% of sports graduates in employment, further study or other purposeful activity (Graduate Outcomes 2023). Students also have access to over 3,000 employers via Hartpury’s Innovation, Careers and Enterprise Centre to gain real industry experience for future career. Hartpury University ranks 1st in the South West and 6th in the UK for Teaching Quality, according to The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide for 2023.
