Emma completed an Agriculture Apprenticeship and now works on a 300-cow dairy farm.
Emma's Hartpury Experience
"The apprenticeship gave me the opportunity to learn while I carried on working, which was the best option for me, and I also got the chance to complete my Loadall ticket (farm vehicle operation qualification), Emergency First Aid and my Quad Bike short course qualification. I learned so many useful skills on my course, like looking after the health and welfare of animals, the importance of routine treatments to livestock, grading of sheep and beef for market, plus relevant legislation and health and safety."
Developing Industry Connections
"I worked on a mixed farm at Lydney while I was doing my apprenticeship and I was constantly learning new things. It was a very mixed farm with 270 ewes, 100 suckler cows plus followers and bull beef, 100 acres of rented arable ground, 200 turkeys and the odd horse as well! Now I work on a 300-cow intensive dairy farm. It’s a new challenge after sheep and beef!"
