Fiona Taylor

Career Overview

I graduated as a human physiotherapist in 1995 and worked in a large London teaching hospital, gaining experience in key areas of medicine, applying my skills and gaining valuable experience before taking a senior position in a hospital just outside London, working within the musculoskeletal service. Family life took me abroad, where I was able to adapt my career to working within an international setting. Working within a private practice setting piqued my interest in business, and I took a role for a large multinational company within market research whilst seeing private physiotherapy patients out of work hours. A return to the UK and an opportunity presented itself to follow my passion and work with animals. I joined Hartpury in 2013 as a student on the MSc Veterinary Physiotherapy course, graduating in 2016. Since then, I have run my own private practice, worked at several large referral practices, specialised in small animal physiotherapy and started my teaching career. I lectured in Veterinary Physiotherapy at a Vet School prior to returning to Hartpury as a Physiotherapy Lecturer in May 2026.

  • Module Lead: Preparation for Clinical practice and understanding veterinary diagnostics and physiotherapy assessment.
  • I co-teach on the other modules with my Veterinary Physiotherapy Colleagues, Gillian Tabor and Fiona Bloom

Research interest

• Pain management and how we can integrate our knowledge of managing human pain to our animal population.
• The feline - movement, biomechanics.
